'46' - The fortySix

FORMER MEMBERS OF THE EMERGENCY PLEASE: Karan Master, Jono Powell and Jamie Trickery.

From The Emergency Please, a pop/ punk project from Southampton have evolved. This new band, The Forty Six are getting a lot of attention. As rising stars in a matter of months, where will their journey take them next?

Along with additional member Scott Holder, The Forty Six have been recorded their debut single, '46', stepping away from rock to a more soulful, and funky groove. They have been performing, ‘46’ at local venues such as, Suburbia Southampton towards the end of 2017. The band have also recently supported Jack the Envious.

Since, The fortySix have had a revamp. Karan Master has pioneered the boys to pastures new, recently performing at The Red Room in Islington, London, UK and supporting London-based artist, Cloudy Galvez.

The debut song has finally been released on all social media platforms. Introducing the track is a descending and ascending bass line followed by soft vocals easing in to the chorus. Keeping a slower tempo throughout, Karan Master's signature clean guitar solo breaks through.

The Forty Six introduce themselves, a little taste of what’s yet to come on the EP.

Accompanying the single is a brand new music video. Set at night time, singer Karan Master, steps out of the boot of drummer Jamie’s car, outside the door of number ‘46’.

Wearing a bright red latex jacket and trousers, depicted a young Micheal Jackson walking down the road. Humorous nostalgia when it comes to Michael Jackson's Thriller, the video itself coming across as eerie but similar to that seen in the early days of Don Broco or Fall Out Boy. As a debut video, director Alexander Day convey's sincerity and honesty, highlighting words through symbolism seen through artistic outdoor and indoor scenes. As a throwback to the old days of Emo, Karan Master's lyrics are emotional but modern, filling space within the music.

The rest of the video then takes place in a forest while switching back towards the singer taking off the clothes and walking around a shop looking at alcohol, setting fire to a photo and waiting in a bus stop. It's all a little hectic, but plays off as a short story reminiscent my younger years.

Right at the end of the video, it repeats, cutting back to the scene of a phone screen, looping back to the beginning again.

As a brand new band to join Southampton’s diverse music scene, The Forty Six are slowly beginning to introduce themselves into the city by coining the genre, 'Neo-emo Soul', working together to find a gap within the market exploring soul, rock and jazz combinations in an innovative way.

With plans to release more singles later on in the year, and with a YouTube Channel that has been streaming costant new music videos, there may be rumors of more footage... coming soon.

The Forty Six are hoping to tour soon but nothing has been confirmed as of yet.

Keep up to date with the band: https://www.facebook.com/thefortysix/
