Metro Brighton's #1 Annual Event, Poets VS MCs, has come to a close after sixteen years of written and improvised on-stage clashes between a vibrant curation of wordsmiths and lyricists from all over the UK. The tried and tested concept is evolving: the younger generation of performers have been taking the torch, in the form of Culture Clash, to the Edinburgh Fringe, three years in a row. Now it's time to take the battle to Amsterdam Fringe! Help us get both teams of young, talented Poets and Rappers to the mainland to clash in a brand new cluture.  “In 2002 a rapper called Tom Hines gatecrashed a poetry night, grabbed the mic and started taking the piss out of the performers. That impromptu outburst triggered a feud between Brighton’s poets and rappers which has been played out in front of bigger and bigger crowds for a decade and a half. Over the years Poets Vs MCs has become a local institution, a thoroughly entertaining annual fixture and a breeding ground for some brilliant lyrical talent.” - The Brighton Source “Where does poetry stop and hip-hop begin? SOUTHAMPTON Sampler VOL.1 was launched at The Joiner's on 2nd February. The night showcased Southampton’s up-coming local talent.   As part of Independent Venue Week, the night hosted a selection of diverse musical talent, all of whom will be featured on the vinyl sampler.  As a collaboration project by SoCo Music Project and Hightown Studios, the vinyl brings together astounding musicians and artists to celebrate the diversity of Southampton’s music scene.
